Luke's Big Boy Bed

I must say.... I love the convertible crib!

But, how do you get them to STAY IN THE BED!? Ahhh! We're on the brink of this and so sad to see the crib go because we have to put Gavin down awake. Otherwise, it's a long night. But, he likes to play and sing in his bed for a while until he falls asleep. He won't stay put in the toddler bed. Suggestions? By the way, Anna and Luke are looking so precious in those pics.

Ah yes... the dreaded transition from crib to toddler bed. I think this has been one of the toughest things to deal with so far! With both of mine it just took us constantly putting them back and telling them to stay put. I would stay outside the door and as soon as their little feet hit the floor, I would go in the room and tell them to stay in bed. We were lucky, Luke caught on quick. Anna on the other hand would wander all over the house all night- much tougher. Could you place a gate at his door only at night? We weren't able to do this (our dog would whine on either side of the gate).

Yes... we've thought about that. I think we'll do that for sure. He doesn't sleep very well anyway. He's always been that way. Some of the docs think it's because he doesn't see light. Therefore he doesn't get that internal clock. Others think this happens to some micro-preemies who had crazy NICU schedules for so long. He was in a hospital a large part of his first year, so sleep pattern was hard to establish. Anyway, the reason I mention all that is because I'mactually thinking of waiting until May to transition so that I'm not worried about him needing to get to school early on no sleep. So, I guess I've got a few months to prepare, huh?
